Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 02 May 2026. Version 1.0.

This Acceptable Use Policy supplements the Terms of Service. It sets out the conduct rules that everyone who uses the eVoting platform must follow. Where a conflict exists between this policy and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service prevail.

1. Honest participation

Vote only as yourself, only in elections you have been issued a link for, and only once per election. Do not buy, sell, or trade votes. Do not coerce or pay another person to vote a particular way.

2. Account integrity

Keep voting links and administrator credentials private. Do not let anyone else use your link or your account. Report a lost or stolen link through the recovery page so we can issue a fresh one.

3. No automation against the platform

Do not run scripts, bots, or other automated tools against any part of the Service unless you have written permission from us. This includes:

  • Submitting ballots through automation
  • Brute-forcing ballot reference codes or recovery codes
  • Scraping voter lists, results, audit logs, or other content
  • Stress-testing the Service

4. Security testing

We welcome responsible disclosure of security issues. Do not test against the production environment without prior written authorisation. To report a vulnerability, email security@neishot.com with reproduction steps. We will acknowledge within five working days and keep you updated on the fix.

5. Content rules

If you upload content (nominee names, candidate descriptions, ballot questions, organisation profiles), it must not:

  • Be false, defamatory, or knowingly misleading
  • Infringe any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property right
  • Contain hate speech, harassment, threats, or incitement to violence
  • Disclose another person’s personal data without their consent
  • Promote illegal goods, services, or activities

6. Communications

Do not use the Service or its messaging templates to send spam, phishing, fundraising appeals, political advertising outside the election, or any unsolicited bulk message that is not part of the election the recipient is invited to.

7. Reporting abuse

If you see behaviour that breaches this policy, report it to abuse@neishot.com. Provide as much detail as you can. We treat all reports as confidential.

8. Consequences

Breaching this policy can lead to:

  • Invalidation of a ballot
  • Suspension or termination of an administrator account
  • Suspension of an organisation’s access to the Service
  • Notification to the affected organisation and, where appropriate, law enforcement
